I personally recommend this product, It’s a must have on our Kikay Kit. For 130 pesos you can have Clean and Clear Pressed Powder. Refill pack also available in most drugstores and supermarkets for less than P100.00.

It naturally blends on my face and keeping my skin soft and smooth. There are no cakey end results as well as it keeps my face free from oiliness.

I noticed most girls are using it already, KUDOS to Clean and Clear.

L’Oreal Lipstick | “Daddy’s pick” - Lariza

My friend Riz asked her dad to buy L’Oreal lipstick (Rosewood color) in Dubai. Unfortunately, her dad didn’t buy the exact L’Oreal lipstick which she asked for. Good thing her dad has good taste in make up… and picked the right color for Riz.

KIKAY KIT AMBUSH 101 - Things I Can’t Go Without – Elsbeth Santos

There are things we simply can’t go without. Nowadays almost everybody can’t leave their homes without bringing their mobile phones with them. It’s like going out naked and vulnerable. For us girls, there are things our kikay kits won’t be complete without. Different girl, different needs. As for me, here’s my list of kikay contents:

For Hygiene

Toothbrush—it’s the number one must-have in my kit. I like having squeaky clean teeth and fresh breath all the time.

Toothpaste—of course, toothbrush won’t work without the toothpaste. ;-) Feminine wipes—I like staying fresh and clean all day.

Band aid—for emergency purposes such as blisters on my feet because of new and not-yet-broken-in shoes.

For Primping Peppermint contact lenses—I love green eyes!

Contact lens all-in-one solution—for lens lubrication.

Facial moisturizer, hand lotion, or body warming oil—I have dry skin so, I keep moisturizers at hand. The warming oil is for when I get cold in the office.

Liquid gel foundation—for an evenly smooth face.

Face powder—to keep my face shine-free.

Dual purpose pink face powder/loose powder—I used them as blush on.

Eye shadow—for a dramatic effect on eyes.

Eyeliners—for bigger eyes. I like having big bright eyes. I have both brown and black for whatever matches my clothes’ color.

Mascara—for an even more dramatic effect on my lashes.

Lip liner—for defined lips

Lipsticks—I keep 2 or 3 lipsticks in my kit just in case my mood changes or I have to change my clothes. They have to match. ;-)

Lip gloss—for shiny, shimmering lips

Baby cologne—for ordinary days. I just love the fresh feeling that baby colognes give.

Perfume—for surprise dates and other things that call for it. You’ll never know when you need one. ;-)

Let’s talk about Hair Serum

Serum makes our hair shiny, silky and smooth. It also helps to avoid having frizzy hair and to protect hair from being damaged from styling.

In order to have radiant shiny smooth hairs try to apply a pea-size amount of serum in the mid-lengths of hair down to the very tip. Remember small amount only, because the serum is already concentrated. Too much serum can make hair oily.

One best way in applying serum is in wet hair because the serum becomes evenly distributed. The hair will have natural and healthy appearance.

Hair serums are available in the market. Here are some brands of hair serum:

Citre Shine Serum- Available in all leading department stores

Kerastase - Available in all leading department stores

L'Oreal Hair Serum - Available in all leading department stores

Vitress - Available in all leading drugstores, supermarkets and department storesVO5 - Available in all leading department stores

Nail Care

Nail care is a must! Good manicure is a way of taking care and pampering our nails. But too much use of nail polish can also ruin and cause brittleness. Let them free from nail polish once in a while, let them breathe.

Below are the basic steps in achieving perfectly polished nails.

  • First, remove all traces of your nail polish by acetone but use cotton balls.
  • Use nail file in shaping your nails.
  • Don’t rush! Work on your nails carefully.
  • Apply cuticle remover cream
  • Push back the cuticles gently.
  • Use nipper and nail pusher carefully.
  • Before you paint your nails, clean it first make sure there’s no residue of cuticles and nail polish. Use nail polish remover as need.
  • While applying nail polish do it in one direction, let it dry first after you apply the next coat.
  • Put quick dry oil after 5 minutes on the top of your nails.

Hair Conditioners

I tried lots of hair conditioners since I was in elementary, but I’m getting more particular ever since I had my hair rebonded. I don’t have straight, shiny and smooth hair, that’s why I’m too picky in what am I supposed to use.

Recently, I used well-known and a bit expensive conditioners like L’oreal Elseve Conditioner and Citre Shine Fresh Fusion. I used L’oreal first, but my expectation didn’t meet, they said anti frizz, it works but so stiff. My hairs fall also and get dry more and more. Maybe my hair and L’oreal are not compatible. After two weeks I changed and shift to Citre Shine Fresh Fusion, all I can say is I’m HIYANG. My hairs get smoother and manageable. I love the smell; Citre Shine is not sticky at all.

For me I’ll go for Citre Shine about P200+, while L’oreal Elseve P150+.

Fearless Fashionista

Are you the typical individual who cannot stand out in the crowd? What I am trying to say is that are you the type of person need to boast some distinct identity. Here at Primp and Prettify I want to give you at least tips and advices how to establish own identity.

Several questions from acquaintance, they ask why they cannot stand out or just to turn the heads of people. Hmmm, maybe your look is not that catchy or you are lacking on something. Moreover, here is my job to inject knowledge to my readers regarding of fashion fetish.

We cannot deny the fact that all of us are wishing and craving to gain complements in what nice things they see on us. We want to hear finicky terms to boast our confidence, those uplifting words that blow your own horn.

The term “fashionista” are commonly toss to those people with distinct identity that really catches our interest, and eventually possess the characteristics of a trendsetter.

Nevertheless, for me the meaning of “fashionista” is simply expressing one self, its not merely being expensive or luxurious person, it only indicates expressing one self’s ideas, opinions and feelings through the way they wanna look.

You do not really need to follow the trend to avoid being out. You just need to establish a self-identity where other can easily distinguish you from the other. Everybody must inherent certain uniqueness to catch the attention of others. Do not try to emulate other exactly the way they look, leave something “unusual” in you. You should not be somebody you are not, no matter what the reason. However, it never hurt anyone to improve oneself a little bit. You do not have to follow your peers down to the very last “borloloy” they wear, but you could make a small effort to “dress up” in clothes that are comfortable and flattering to you, those that reflect your own style and personality. Of course, good hygiene and grooming go without saying. Uniqueness can be your I.D wherever you may go; people can easily recognize you the way you want to give the impression of being.

If you are not feeling comfortable in what you are wearing, stop it. Not even complete Prada ensemble will make you look good if you don’t feel good. It reflects in the aura if the one whom just trying to pretend they are blissful in what they are. It cannot help. Take some fashion cues but don’t let fashion dictate to you.

Not every entity can always follow the trends. Others cannot splurge money in fashion because the budget is tight; others cannot show some skin even though they have the money to spend just because there some unwanted fats, and reality bites everybody has its own flaws. However, knowing “Pinoy” we have lot of alternatives, if lacks of budget go for “ukay-ukay” or vintage stores no one can tell where you pick that things. If you really want to wear killer-stiletto’s shoes that are your best bet to make your fancy dress stylish, but you are not blessed having nice feet forward. Well, there are some alternatives and choices, like doll shoes, flats are “in” nowadays still you can hide some unwanted veins, and varicose that really sucks.

It is our pleasure to hear complements, it really boast confidence in us. Analyzed what you really want to be, experiment do not copy too much and just take note “Be yourself” and it goes without saying. Whether you are trying to portrait a “kikay”, “girlish”, “trasher”, “rocker”, “punky” and other, it is your choice; the important thing is that you are satisfied and uplifted to what you are. An eye catchy statement yet comfy wont look obvious will be great. That’s the fearless fashion.
