Bagaholic

Tuesday, September 9, 2008

Sounds like it’s a BAG addiction right? Hahaha… without further ado lets talk about being bagaholic.

I met a lot of girls who’s really bag addict, whether it’s designer’s bags, fashionable bags or just simple casual bags for daily use, their shopping wont be complete without buying bags.

No wonder why BAG pawnshop exists. I wasn’t able to get the exact detail of a BAG pawnshop in Greenhills, but I’m pretty much sure most of bagaholics know that place already. They accept genuine designer bags instead of pieces of jewelry. They also sell used designer bags almost half of the price. What a clever entrepreneur, she started to display her LV collection and noticed that bagaholic bite into her idea, so she pursued her business plan.

It’s not easy being bagaholic, first you should have budget to sustain your fetish, second you have enough knowledge and taste knowing what is genuine and what is replica, third, you should know how to take care of your precious bags to maintain its value.

Bagaholic = BAG + AHOLIC (Bag Addiction)

Shopaholic (a mental disorder?)

Wednesday, September 3, 2008

Shopaholic means someone who obsessed with shopping. It came from SHOP + AHOLIC.

It is an obsession with shopping that eventually interferes with daily routine of an individual. Most of Shopaholics feel anxiety when not shopping, or they consider shopping as a remedy for their stress, boredom and sadness. They feel a change of mood, a sense of euphoria/happiness when shopping.

Excessive shopping may result to a mental disorder, debt, and marital discord. Nowadays, shopaholic can take anti depressant medication that lessen anxiety or stop compulsive shopping.

Symptoms of a SHOPAHOLIC:

  • Compulsive Buying
  • Go beyond budget
  • Tend to hide purchases from your partner and other mentor
  • Tend to hide credit card bills and bank statement
  • Feeling guilty after a shopping spree.
  • Shop when sad, bored and tense
  • Over used of credit card
  • Lying about how much they spent
  • Always thinking about money
  • Unable to pass up a "SALE"
  • Regular impulsive buyer
  • Not using items you've purchased
  • Using shopping as a "pick me up"
  • Don’t prioritize necessities
  • Allocating a large amount of time and money on shopping and planning future shopping expeditions
  • Experiencing withdrawal symptoms from shopping
  • Giving up other social or recreational activities to shop

Shopaholic must read Confession of a Shopaholic by Sophia Kinsella. You can relate to her situation and after reading that book,

… “NO, stop being so rebecca bloomwoods” “stop being shopaholic”.
