Fashion change constantly, what is “in” today maybe “off” by the next few months. It’s not bad to let fashion dictates you but if you don’t have enough budgets to follow what is in and what is hot, maybe you can invest on the basic that won’t easily run out of style.
So what are those basic clothing?
You have to know your lifestyle first, are you spending most of your time at work, party goers or are you part of these socialites, or trying to fit in?
If you are one of the corporate slaves try to invest on simple and plain long sleeves, sleeveless tops and blazers (why sleeveless tops?). If you’re planning to go out after work you can remove your blazer and transform into a party-goers-chic. Also try to look for pants that fit perfectly, old slacks pants with design can easily notice by the people you deal with everyday, so avoid clothing with loud style that can easily catch attention of other if you want it to be the basic. Try to mix and match your “in” clothing with the basic corporate clothing and add some latest accessories such as belts, necklaces, earrings and bracelets. Use shoes and bags that complement with color of your outfit.
Basic for party people are skirts and sexy jeans. If you have what so called generic micro mini skirts, you can just wear nice “in-style” sexy tops, do it also when wearing pants. Invest on tube, halters and spaghetti straps tops with different color. Invest also on safe color bags and shoes, so you can wear it all the time. Basic colors for bags and shoes are white, black and brown. Just mix the basic with the “uso” one and then go party all night long!!!
Bottom-line, being fashionable is not only by following what is in and what is hot. To be “fashionista” you must have sense of creativity and resourcefulness too.
